Smoking to be banned at learning envrionments and certain building entrances
From 13 April 2015, smoking will be banned:
- within the grounds of, and at and within four metres of an entrance to, all Victorian childcare centres, kindergartens (or preschools) and primary and secondary schools
- at and within four metres of an entrance to children's indoor play centres and Victoria public premises. Victoria public premisies are all public hospitals and registered community health centres and certain Victorian Government buildings.

There is a perception that asthma is no longer a significant health problem.
However despite the development of new medications and treatment regimens
most asthma related deaths in Australia remain preventable.
