ASTHMATICS are underestimating the seriousness of their condition, the state's peak asthma body has warned.

Asthma Foundation SA chief executive David Bedson said the condition could be controlled well, but was still a problem in Australia.

"Sadly, statistics show that one Australian dies each day from asthma," he said.
